[You pick up some things here and there after being around the block a few (dozen) times, including how to properly shake hands like a functioning adult lest he get harassed about a lack of proper manners. There's only about 2 seconds worth of staring at Pyrrha's outstretched hand - as opposed to his usual five - before he's reaching out and taking it in a firm grip. (He is still sighing inwardly though, that hasn't changed.)]
Shinjiro.
[Pyrrha the miracle worker, able to collect both a handshake and a name.]
[ She releases his hand promptly, her own falling behind her back in an attentive clasp. Shinjiro may not want it, but he has her full attention for the time being. ]
Yeah, I imagine so.
[ That's different from being prepared, but at least she's still armed. ]
What I was told by CERES and what others have been telling me are a bit different.
[That's something at least, and more than most are given (or are willing to accept). Another quick once-over, in combination with her actions from earlier, have him feeling reassured that she'll manage on her own just fine and he nods, taking a step backward and signalling his intentions to leave.]
Don't know how long we're here for, but it's better to keep your eyes and ears open.
[Advice she's probably well aware of but still worth repeating.]
Pyrrha looks dour. If there's a slight spark at the back of her eyes, half-revved for a fight, well. There's a reason she's a multiple competitive combat tournament winner. ]
Tenka just snorts faintly at that, no longer looking surprised. That's closer to Sousei acknowledging Pyrrha's skills, he thinks.... but it's not like it's possible to ruin Sousei's reputation to his best friend who knows just about everything about him.]
[ Country to country, he corrects. Pyrrha makes a point to memorise it; although Remnant is different on many points, a lot of people here seem to be from varying versions of a similar world, right down to the name and terminology.
[Naoki looks nostalgic, gaze faraway, like he's looking at something long since passed.]
My dad and I've made a Christmas cake together every year, ever since I was old enough to remember. Usually just a little one. Oh-- [Remembering she probably isn't familiar with it:] It's a sponge cake, with white icing and strawberries on top.
[ Anything with strawberries sounds absolutely wonderful to Pyrrha. However, she’s taking in his expression and breadth of his gaze as much as anything. If she knew him better, she’d strive to be comforting. As it is, all she can do is make an attempt. It’s graceful as anything she does. ]
Maybe we could find one.
[ Her eyes go down the length of market stalls, selling various ornaments and other treats. Most of them are manned by robots but, well, that’s a risk they’ll have to take. ]
[Naoki grins sidelong at her, shaking from memories (warm, if overlaid with a terrible longing and the knowledge of what comes later).] We can definitely look for one. Nothing beats homemade, though.
[Phrased with a more playful lilt. Not to boast about his abilities to make that one kind of cake, though, of course.]
[ It’s her duty as a future huntress, but all Pyrrha says is, in an equal whisper - ]
I’m happy to help.
[ Wait. Wait. ]
Although - it’d probably be better to not be in situations like this in the future. [ Holding him in her peripheral vision, Pyrrha gauges how steady he is, if he’s injured or standing tall. This will take at least one (1) more tag to finish judging! Action will commence when Pyrrha returns, right after these messages. ]
Well... that may be true. But that's not usually how my luck works.
[He answers easily enough, though he's at least keeping his voice low. At least he's conversation enough while the car hisses and shifts around them. He's steady enough, on his feet and waiting and ready for, well, he's not entirely sure what.]
If there is a future anyway. [No really though they should be fine and get through this no problem he's just being optimistic.]
[ Her palm slides over the door. At a glance, it just looks like she’s inspecting the surface metal for weak points, flaws to be exploited. That’s not quite correct. What Pyrrha is actually doing is sussing out the vibrations in the metal, layer after layer, feeling the way it thrums and her own pulse skips to match.
When the door opens abruptly, it’s done with her fingers curled around the handle. A necessary act - the door would have been impossible to open legally - and she does not wish her Semblance indicated.
[ Immediately, Pyrrha reaches for Maya’s shoulder. It’s not an aggressive gesture by any means; rather, her touch is gentle, simply to draw the girl’s attention. ]
[ It's probably not as clever as anything Jaune could conceive, but Pyrrha has rarely had to extend her strategic abilities to anyone other than herself. Factoring in Maya had slowed her down considerably but, no matter what, they'll both get out of here alive.
[ Her offer for water goes unaccepted and Pyrrha drops her arm accordingly, not wishing to push the matter. Besides, she's more focused on what he says next. ]
[ Pyrrha has quite a few questions. Have enough people died in this setting? Why October? Why only October? Were they summoned? Were they eradicated? -- Somehow, she suspects that Yata will field few to no answers. ]
shinjiro, march intro.
I guess it’s pretty obvious.
[ That’s a yes.
With a smile that just straddles the line between pleasant and overeager, she holds out a hand for him to shake. Shake her hand, Shinjiro. Do it. ]
I’m Pyrrha. [ So much introducing! It’s a nice change from everyone knowing her name back home. ] Nice to meet you.
